Toronto Pet Photography

Every pawprint tells a story

As a pet owner myself, I understand the value of investing in pet photography. Our pets shape our home and define our days; moreover, they offer unconditional love, companionship, and comfort when life feels heavy. I create meaningful pet photos that honour your pets personality and presence. My approach to Toronto pet photography centres on intentional imagery that conveys the story of the bond you share.

The Value of Professional Pet Photography

1

A Pet Photoshoot Ensures You’re Part of the Memory

Many people have dozens of pet photos, however, most of those images show only the pet — not the relationship you share. Toronto pet photography ensures you step into the frame, preserving your unconditional love.

2

Pet Photography Captures Your Chosen Family

Not all of us have biological children or a family of our own. For many individuals and couples across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, pets are children and family members. Dedicated professional pet photography acknowledges the family you’ve built.

3

Pet Photos Are Artwork Worth Displaying

A thoughtfully composed photo of a pet translates beautifully into custom art such as a dog photo canvas. As a result, these images become conversation pieces in the home you share with your pet — not decoration, but art with feeling and emotions.

4

End-of-Life Pet Photography Preserves What Time Cannot

Unfortunately, we often outlive our pets. At times, when our loved ones are gone or nearing the end of their lives, we realize we do not have many meaningful photos with or of them. Therefore, Toronto pet photography becomes an invaluable investment.

Video Documentation

BTS & B-roll For Content Creation

Alongside still photography, short-form video can be captured as part of visual storytelling and content creation. This footage documents movement, process, and in-between moments that support images. When paired with stills, video provides added context and helps form a more complete narrative.

Pet Photography FAQ

Planning & Preparing for Your Pet Photos

If your pet’s health has started to decline, book your end-of-life pet photography session as soon as possible. Waiting for a better day often adds pressure. End-of-life pet photos do not require long sessions or perfect conditions. We move at your pet’s pace and focus on connection and care. If time feels limited, contact me immediately. I prioritize end-of-life pet photography bookings when possible to try my best to help others in their time of need.

Once you book your lifestyle photoshoot with me, you will receive a detailed preparation guide. The guide outlines clear steps to help everyone participating in the session feel confident, including pets. Additionally, it includes guidance on what to wear for pet photos with thoughtful styling recommendations for all.

At the moment, I specialize in dog and cat photography but I'm open to working with other animals as well. If you’re considering Toronto pet photography for a different type of pet, reach out and share the details.

Yes. I photograph in-home pet euthanasia. End-of-life pet photos are handled with full sensitivity and your veterinarian’s guidance. You must inform your vet in advance so they can confirm whether photography is permitted, and share any restrictions for the appointment.

Yes. I offer lifestyle pet photography that naturally includes family members.

Yes. My Toronto pet photography sessions are available to all.

Feel free to share any ideas or inspiration you have with me. I cannot promise that I can create exactly what you are envisioning but I will try my best. If there is anything I am unable to do I will let you know clearly, as I don’t want you to have expectations I cannot meet.

Lifestyle photography is meant to reflect you and your life. You’re encouraged to choose a meaningful location for your outdoor pictures. If guidance is needed, once you book, you’ll receive a curated location guide featuring outdoor settings across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area that I’ve photographed previously.

As a lifestyle photographer serving the GTHA, I travel throughout various regions. My pricing includes a set travel radius based on kilometres, with the option to extend distance if needed.

As an experienced lifestyle photographer in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, I photograph at various times of day. However, the ideal time for outdoor photography is during golden hour. Golden hour occurs shortly after sunrise or a few hours before sunset. During this window, the sun sits lower in the sky, which creates soft, warm light and reduces harsh contrast. Additionally, early mornings often mean less crowd in parks and fewer distractions. As a result, your lifestyle photoshoot feels relaxed.

I recommend avoiding midday whenever possible. Bright overhead sun creates strong shadows, causes squinting, and limits flattering angles. On overcast days, however, we gain flexibility. Clouds diffuse sunlight evenly, which produces soft and flattering lifestyle photos.

The best time for in-home lifestyle photography is anytime during the day before the evening. This way we can make use of the beautiful natural light coming into your home.

I can photograph in moderate rain or snow when conditions allow. However, for outdoor photoshoots, clients must have an indoor or covered backup location in case weather conditions pose a safety risk. Clients may also reschedule once without additional charges. My contract outlines full details regarding rescheduling and weather policies, and we review these together before booking.

Yes. You can combine both in-home and outdoor settings within the same lifestyle photoshoot. If you would like images taken indoors and outdoors, we can begin inside your home and then move outside to your front or backyard, or to a nearby park.

During Your Pet Photoshoot

I understand the challenges of photographing pets with black fur, as I have several black cats myself. However, as a professional pet photographer, I have the experience to work effectively with pets of all fur colours while maintaining accurate representation of their coats.

Ensuring your pet's safety is my top priority. If you have concerns about potential distractions at the location we will be shooting in, I recommend keeping your dog on a leash. It's best to use thin leads as they can be easily removed during the editing of your images.

I understand that your pet may need time to adjust to new people. Rest assured, I strive to create a relaxed and stress-free atmosphere during the photoshoot. Your pet's well-being is my top priority, I won't push your pet into anything they're not comfortable with.

Uncooperative children and pets during photoshoots are more common than you may think. I encourage your children or pets to lead the rhythm of the session while you interact naturally. Rather than trying to tame or correct them, I focus on documenting who they are.

I will give you gentle guidance and direct you into natural poses throughout your photoshoot. You will receive suggestions on where and how to sit, stand, and place your hands. I will also give you various prompts to help you feel at ease in front of the camera. You will never be asked to do anything that feels forced or uncomfortable.

"Henna managed to capture my dog in his true element"

  • When I first discovered Henna's work, what immediately struck me was how she captures people and pets at their most natural.

Henna invested time in getting to know us over a phone call and conducted thorough research to select the perfect location nearby for our shoot.

As a devoted dog mom, I always worry whether he will cooperate during photo sessions, despite using commands, treats, and tricks. However, Henna's friendliness, patience, and utmost professionalism put my dog Finn instantly at ease—so much so that he quickly accepted her as part of his pack!

Henna managed to capture my dog in his true element: happy, playful, jumping, and with his fur glistening with morning dew. The images truly reflect his personality and were beautifully enhanced through her skillful editing, making them appear almost ethereal. We will cherish these photos forever.

Henna possesses not only the rare skill of effectively handling and photographing pets—a talent many photographers lack—but she also excels in capturing incredibly stunning photographs that truly resonate.
